VILLAGERS were out in force over the weekend to give their area a spring clean.
About20 people volunteered their time to go litter picking around Collyweston and the village now looks spotless.
Residents joined the national anti-litter campaign, Stop The Drop, run by the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England.
Villagers armed with litter pickers, bags and protective gear, supplied by East Northamptonshire District Council, patrolled three roads including the A43 in Collyweston and filled more than 20 bags of rubbish.
Organiser Fiona Cowan, 43, a publisher from Main Road, Collyweston, was delighted with the event's success.
She said: "It has been something that people can come together and make a difference to the whole community.
"These days a community is quite difficult thing to participate in as we lead such busy lives. Just for a couple of hours people came out and did something for everybody."
