A teenager is jetting off to India to spend the six weeks in a remote area helping to care for about 200 children who have been orphaned or are affected by leprosy and HIV.

Former Bourne Grammar pupil Jemima Elson, 19, of The Gables, Bourne, is volunteering with charity Brighter Future having heard about their work from people at Bourne Baptist Church.

Jemima said: “I’m looking forward to experiencing the different culture and learning more about how different things are out there and to meeting all the kids and spending time with them.”
