MEMBERS of the region’s air ambulance crew are set to swap their helicopter for bicycles to take part in a sponsored ride around Rutland Water.

The event is due to take place at the reservoir on September 23, and people are being urged to join crew members for the Rutland Water Family Bike Ride.

The ride will raise funds for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

Paramedic Karl Bexon said: “The event promises to be a great day out for all the family and places are filling up fast so make sure you sign up now to be part of this fantastic day.”

People will be able to ride a 17 or 23-mile route on the day. Entrance fee is £10 for adults and £5 for children.

To sign up to the event visit www.theairambulanceservice.org.uk/rutland, or alternatively call 08454 130 999.
