A WOMAN will embark on a personal challenge when she takes on the Great Wall of China.
Andrea Harvey, 38, of Main Road, Toft, will walk the wall over five days on April 21 in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Andrea is part of a team of 30 from the insurance company where she works as a personal assistant, the BGL Group in Peterborough, and they plan to raise £3,500 each for the cause.
Andrea, who lives with her son Mitchell, eight, and daughter Tula, three, said: “We have a two-year partnership with the charity, which ends in April, with a fundraising target of £250,000 to meet.
“If we hit our own targets of raising £3,500 through the trek, then this would mean we will hopefully raise an additional £105,000 if we hit the £250,000 target.”
Andrea is looking forward to the trek along The Great Wall of China, which was originally built to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire against invasions.
She said: “This is a personal challenge for me too. I have never done anything like this before.
“I am trying to do as much walking as I can to prepare.
“I have got two small children and I would like them to see that tough challenges can be positive too.”
Andrea has raised nearly £800 in sponsorship.
She said: “So many people have been affected in some way by cancer and most people know how much Marie Curie does in the community.”
