ARTISTS from across the area who want to sign up for an exhibition later this year can do so from this week.
The Rutland Open Exhibition will open at Rutland County Museum in Catmos Street, Oakham, on March 24 and will feature the cream of art from Rutland, Leicestershire, Nortamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.
The event has been running at Catmose Gallery at Catmose College in Oakham for the last eight years but the college’s decision to close the gallery to the public put the future of the competition in jeopardy.
Arts for Rutland, which runs the competition, has secured space at the museum for the competition, which will be judged by professional art critics, museum directors and art consultants.
Prizes for the winners are not secured as yet, but Goldmark Gallery in Uppingham and Swan’s Antiques in Oakham have already agreed to give prizes.
Artists will be able to submit up to three pieces of 2D or 3D work into the competition for selection to the final round, which will cost £5 each piece.
The exhibition is open to artists from all genres and disciplines.
Information about how to sign up and submit pieces of art work is now available at www.artsforrutland.co.uk
