ARTS and crafts by local people have been championed at an event at Grimsthorpe Castle.

A craft fair, with 38 stalls, was held in a marquee in front of the castle was held on Saturday and Sunday.

It was attended by more than 500 people.

Access manager Ray Biggs said: “We had a great weekend, the Saturday was a bit of a wash out but the Sunday was great.

“We had lots of people coming to see the crafts and what was nice about it is it was local people who were displaying their work, many of whom don’t have a shop window to sell their work.”

A wide selection of crafts were on offer from homemade cakes to modern wooden and stone sculptures.

Ray added: “What is good about events like this is they bring in people from Bourne and Stamford who might not come to the castle otherwise. People are able to come and see what their neighbours are doing.”
