An author felt compelled to pen a sequel to his debut novel in response to numerous
demands from readers.

In January last year Will Stebbings from Geeston self-published Off The Mark, a humorous tale of a young man’s problematic growing up in a small Norfolk town in the 1960s.

It took him six months to write and since its release he has constantly been asked to produce a follow-up.

“Due to overwhelming public demand – well it overwhelmed me – I felt obliged to write Further Off the Mark, which was released last week,” he said.

“The handful of people who have read it so far have already given me some very complementary feedback.”

The new novel carries on more or less where the previous one finished and is loosely based on Will’s personal experiences in the worlds of work and the opposite sex.

Readers rejoin Mark Barker, 19, as he moves on from his youthful awkwardness.

He pursues a variety of women, including the lovely Sandy and her equally attractive and flirtatious mother!

The cover of the new book was designed by and features Will’s daughter-in-law, Holly Ormrod-Stebbings, who used to live in Lyddington.

Will, 65, a retired IT consultant for Jaguar Land Rover, describes himself as a ‘frustrated songwriter’. Some of his songs have been published but none have been commercially successful.

He has lived near Ketton since 1977 with his wife Yvonne. They have two sons.

Available from Troubador Publishing, the book is on sale for £7.49. So far 300 copies of Off The Mark have been sold. Both books can be ordered from local bookshops as well as online.
