More than 150 guests helped raised thousands of pounds for a worthy cause at a ball held in memory of a loving mum.

Organisers Dani Wheeler and Shirin Fenn were delighted with the success of the Dragonfly Ball, which was held at Greetham Valley Hotel Golf and Conference Centre, raising £12,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The ball was held in memory of Dani’s mum, Carole, who lost her battle to motor neurone disease in 2011.

Currently there are around 50 people with the disease in Lincolnshire.

All the funds raised will go directly to the Lincolnshire branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, helping local sufferers and their families with support and equipment.

Dani, 38, from Greatford, said: “Thank you to all guests for their kindness and charitable spirit. A fabulous outcome to a truly memorable evening.”

Dani and Shirin have thanked a number of organisations for their sponsorship and help towards the auction and raffle.

Support came from: Stamford Round Table; Rotary Club of Stamford; Zeeco Europe; Cummins of Stamford; The Royal Oak in Duddington; The George Hotel; Grasmere Farm; You and Beyond; Essence of Beauty; Burghley House; Dawson of Stamford; Lambs of Stamford; 23 Seven; Murano Silver; Adnams of Stamford; Rustic Deli in Market Deeping; LRWT and Anglian Water; Pioneer Caravans; Greensleaves of Casterton Garden Centre and Greetham Valley Hotel Golf and Conference Centre.
