More than 50 bikers turned out to show their anger at parking charges at Rutland Water.

A protest was held on Sunday at the reservoir’s car park in Normanton because motorbike users are unhappy that Anglian Water has introduced set charges for people to park there regardless of the size of their vehicle.

Bikers used to enjoy free parking at the site but since new barriers were put up in May they face the same fees as all motorists.

To show their disapproval, the protestors parked their motorcycles in separate car parking bays.

Protest organiser Richard Moore said: “We held the protest to send out a strong message that they need to give us a fair rate. They will lose out on visitors if they keep the fees.”
