FIREFIGHTERS stepped in to raise hundreds of pounds for charity on Saturday.

Billingborough Co-op held its fundraising day to raise money for learning disability charity Mencap, its chosen charity of the year, and Billingborough Fire Station.

During the day the fire crew from Billingborough ran a car wash to help raise funds themselves and staff at the Co-op were running a tombola, raffle and cake stall for the guests.

The Co-op also ran competitions such as guess the name of the teddy and guess the teddy’s birthday.

The event raised £556 with money still coming in and the total will be split equally between the two charities.

Billingborough Co-op’s team leader Lesley Fixter said: “We had a great day at the event and from what I could tell, there were plenty of people who came to support us. We are very pleased with the amount we raised.”
