A SPECIAL guest joined the fun at a storytime session at Stamford Library.

Bookstart Bear put in an appearance when a group of 24 children gathered together to celebrate National Bookstart Week.

The scheme aims to encourage young children to enjoy reading so they took part in a series of rhyme and story activities based around the theme of transport.

Library spokesman Janet Davies said: “It was a lively session and the children all loved meeting our Bookstart Bear.”

The children also learned about a borrowing scheme which allows them to collect stickers and certificates each time they borrow books from the library.

Storytime sessions take place at the library every Wednesday at 2pm and on Saturdays at 11am.
