THE winning design from a competition is now on planters around Bourne.

The Bourne in Bloom committee, which organises the annual campaign to keep the town tidy in a bid to win the East Midlands in Bloom competition, asked pupils from schools to design a poster.

The winning poster, which was designed by Year 8 Bourne Academy pupil Annabel Snape, will be displayed on planters which have been adopted by organisations or schools.

The judges of the competition, town councillor Judy Smith, Lorraine Cunningham from Set in Stone Memorials and Chris Moxley, a local artist, said they were impressed by the high standard of entries. They said the most simple designs were often the best and thanked everyone who participated.

There are still some planters available for adoption by local organisations, which want to maintain the plants inside and help Bourne in Bloom do even better next year than the silver gilt medal it received this year.
