PUPILS from Bourne Westfield Primary Academy have been presented prizes after winning a writing competition run by the town’s rotary club.
Four Year 6 pupils were presented with certificates and book tokens during a school assembly on Thursday after they were selected as winners of Bourne Rotary Club Writers competition.
The pupils were able to submit either a short story or poem for the competition which they had worked on at school and at home.
Alex Nicolson’s poem took first prize earning him the gold award and Oliver Farrell’s story took the silver award.
Bronia Davison and Thomas Green were both awarded highly commended for their work.
Literary co-ordinator Gillian Goodwin said: “It was lovely to see the children celebrate their success. ”
“The competition allows the pupils a great freedom to be creative, which they love.
“They have worked extremely hard and were very pleased with their prizes.”
The winners were selected from nearly 90 entries from the school.
