A schoolgirl had her ponytail chopped off and donated to a children’s cancer charity.

Bourne Academy pupil Maya Copeland, 12, gave her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair after cancer treatment.

Maya is pictured above with her certificate and right, her ponytail after it had been cut off at Bojangles Hair Salon in Bourne, which gave her the cut for free. The salon also presented her with a certificate.

She was sponsored by her schoolfriends and customers at Bojangles and raised £195 for The Teenage Cancer Trust.

Proud mum Alison said: “The staff at Bojangles were fantastic and our friends and family have been very generous.”
