A GALA at Oakham Bowling Club raised £400 for the Karen Ball Fund.
The charity was chosen by gala sponsor and Oakham businessman Tim Norton. It provides medical equipment, palliative care and practical help for seriously-ill Rutland people and their carers.
There were five matches at the gala and each of the 12 teams of four players were spurred on by the prizes for the top three.
Energy levels were kept high by a coffee and tea reception, a two-course Sunday lunch and tea and cakes in the afternoon.
Club spokesman David Thorne said: “This was all provided by a volunteer team of ladies, not to mention the gala marshals, bar staff who kept everyone’s thirst at bay and raffle ticket sellers to whom all the contestants and organisers are extremely grateful.”
