THIS friendly dog has been named the winner in the Mercury Pets Factor competition.

Boycie, a pointer spaniel cross, received the most votes in the competition and his owners Esther and Eddie Jones, of Stamford Road, Easton-on-the-Hill, were over the moon.

Esther said: “It is brilliant news. Boycie really deserves to win, although of course, I am biased!”

Boycie, who is named after the popular character from the Only Fools and Horses television programme, is no stranger to winning awards - he also won best rescue dog at the Stamford Dog Show last year.

Esther said: “Boycie is just adorable and wins over everyone he meets so I’m not surprised he got the most votes.

“We got him last June as a rescue dog and now we couldn’t imagine life without him.”

Boycie won against nine other finalists including a cat and a rabbit. He wins a new bed from Pets at Home packed full of Mars Petcare food, treats and other goodies.

Esther and Eddie will also get a stunning colour print of Boycie from Starlight Studios.
