BRAUNSTON Road in Oakham will remain closed until Wednesday next week.
It was closed on Friday after a water main burst near the junction with Glebe Way.
The water company had estimated that the pipe would be repaired by today but it is taking longer than expected.
A spokesman said: “We would to apologise to those affected by the road closure that we have had to put in place on the Braunston Road.
“We are carrying out urgent repairs to a burst water main there and the nature of the problem means it is taking longer than we originally expected.
“We have worked with Rutland County Council to put a diversion in place and anticipate that the road will be closed until Wednesday, May 30, although we will be working as quickly and safely as possible to complete the repairs and open the road before then.”
The road reopened on April 27 after being closed for two weeks for a similar problem.
