BREAKING NEWS: Olympic torchbearers revealed

THE people who will carry the Olympic torch through our area have been revealed.

The torch will travel through Langham, Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford on its way to Peterborough on July 3, before visiting Market Deeping, Thurlby and Bourne the following day.

A total of 30 people will bear the torch as it passes through the area. In Langham, Heather Graham, 28 from Lincoln and Nia Durant, 15, from Leicester, will carry the flame.

Beth Harris, 33, from Oakham, Mark May, 34, from Northampton, Martin Hulbert, 38, from Leicester and Steve Tipping, 24, from Market Harborough, will take the flame through Oakham.

Neenoo Neehuis, 28, from Oakham and Malcolm Borrows, 50, from Kettering, will take over as the torch makes its way through Uppingham.

And in Stamford, the route will be shared by Simon Hales, 22, from Oakham, Benedicta Ripamonti, 36, from Masate, Christian Brookes, from Oakham, Dave Thompson, 45, from Huntingdon, Jo Varley, 52, from Peterborough, Livvy De Wet, 12, from Uppingham and Sue Probst, 56, from Stamford.

The torch will then head to Peterborough where it will spend the night before moving on to Market Deeping the following day, where it will be carried by Carl Garner, 41, from Peterborough, Nick Rickett, 43, from Baston and Sam Hills, 14, from Lowesoft.

In Thurlby the torch will be carried by Bo Haywood, 15, from Lincoln, Emma Fulwood, 27, from Stamford, Natalie Spires, 25, from Stamford, Paul Pester Hunter, 48, from Norwich, Sarah O’Brien, 30 from Spalding, Tracy Nicol, 30, from Spalding and Will May, 13, from Brigg.

Finally the torch will be borne through Bourne by Daniel Dillon, 30, from Kent, Livii Warwood-Hart, 12, from Celle, Oliver Mas, 16, from Cambridge, Richie Goodsell, 53, from Bourne and Victoria Ganley, 26, from Lincoln.

People from our area will also be carrying the torch across the UK. Four people will be involved on June 27. Paralympic skiing hopeful Jade Etherington, 21, from Bourne, will carry the flame through Lincoln, where she is at university.

Ian Sharkey, 69, from Bourne, will carry the torch through Boston that same day. He was instrumental in bringing junior football to the town.

Bourne Town Harrier Richard Lomas-Brown, 39, from Bourne, will be part of the relay in Hogsthorpe, near Skegness.

Robert Mohan, 21, from Bourne, will carry the torch through Sleaford and

Andrew Mcpherson, 49, from Stamford, will carry the torch through Winthorpe.

Also taking part is Ges Roulstone, 56, from Bourne, who will carry the torch through Holbeach on July 4.

Neil Wedge, 48, from Oakham, will carry the torch through Ingoldmells on June 27.

Neil Gorman, 61, from Oakham, will carry the flame through Nottingham on June 29.

And former New College Stamford student Charly Sissons, 18, from Essendine, will be part of the relay through Peterborough on July 3.
