A GOLF club raised more than £5,000 for charity last year.

Former Burghley Park Golf Club captains Kay Hircock and Javan Argent presented cheques totalling £5,350 to Stamford’s Evergreen Care Trust and the Sue Ryder Hospice Thorpe Hall, based in Peterborough.

The money was raised throughout 2010 from a range of fundraising activities at the club, including a fashion show, a coffee morning and open competitions.

Kay said: “We think in these cash-strapped times that people have been extremely generous throughout the year and we were delighted that we could donate such substantial sums on behalf of Burghley Park Golf Club.”
