MORE than 20 homes were left without water after a mains pipe burst.

Anglian Water engineers worked through the night on Friday to repair the pipe in Ayr Close, Stamford, after a leak was reported earlier that afternoon.

A total of 22 houses in the street were cut off from the mains water supply between 10pm on Friday and 5am on Saturday while repairs were carried out.

Anglian Water spokesman Antony Innes said: “Leakage is a top priority at the moment given the drought situation so reporting leaks is absolutely vital.”
