An initiative to invite new traders to a South Kesteven market has attracted a long term stall holder.

In May, interested traders or businesses took advantage of pitching up at any of South Kesteven District Council’s markets in Stamford, Bourne and Grantham for just £10 as part of Love Your Local Markets fortnight.

Among them was Ann-Marie Fountain of Ann-Marie’s Cupcakes who sells topical cake creations.

She was so impressed by the reaction of customers and fellow traders to her business at Stamford market she has now booked as a longer term trader.

Ann-Marie said: “It was great to have the trial for just £10 and it soon became clear this would be a good business opportunity for me as customers flooded to my stall.

“The other traders here in Stamford are like a family and they and the customers are so friendly, it makes for a very pleasant place to
trade.

“Customers ask advice and are always curious about how I make my creations with the cakes.

“I’m pleased I’ve been able to work with SKDC and use their support to take my products to new customers.”

The council’s portfolio holder for Grow the Economy Frances Cartwright (Con) said: “Giving businesses the opportunity to have a taste of what their local market can do for them has really paid off in this case.”
