There is heavy traffic on the A1 around Stamford due to an agricultural show in Peterborough.

Farming machinery show Lamma began at Peterborough Arena at the East of England Showground this morning (Wednesday).

Traffic on the A1 southbound is currently congested from Empingham to Alwalton in Peterborough. The heavy traffic is also causing problems for drivers in Stamford town centre.

Peterborough Arena (@PeterboroArena) tweeted: “We know it’s been a testing drive into work, but Lamma is a UK leading show & we are proud to host it & bring business/ commerce to the city”.

Lamma show organisers (@lammashow) also tweeted “With 40,000 attendees the road network always suffers a bit when combined with rush hour. Should be clearing now.

“We apologise to anyone inconvenienced on their journey but also remember contribution to local economy with all visitors.”

Lamma runs until tomorrow (Thursday).
