Local clergy have helped to celebrate the refurbishment of a funeral home.

Funeral business R J Scholes gave its Deeping St James branch, in Horsegate, a 12-week revamp which was followed by a rededication service.

The Rev Philip Brent, rector of St Guthlac’s Church in Market Deeping, Father Clement Orang’o, from Our Lady of Lincoln and St Guthlac Catholic Church at Deeping St James, and the Rev Ann Bossingham, of Deeping Methodist Church, were all involved in the service.

Members of local churches and parish councils also attended and Harry Whitelock, who is chairman of the board of Anglia
Co-operative, officially unveiled a plaque.

Area manager of R J Scholes, Tim Waller, said: “The branch has received a total overhaul – it really is so much better for families and for staff.

“We now have brand new facilities to enable us to provide an even better service.”
