A business owner visited Downing Street to help launch a campaign aimed at helping independent traders.

Tracey Longmuir, who runs Isis Pet Care in Little Bytham, was one of 50 small business owners to attend the launch of the Small Business Saturday scheme on Friday last week.

She went for an afternoon tea with Minister for Skills and Enterprise Matthew Hancock at 11 Downing Street and spoke to Chancellor George Osborne about her business.

The Small Business Saturday campaign encouraged people to shop at independent retailers on December 7.

Tracey had previously been interviewed for a video on a new Government website aimed at small businesses.

Stamford and Bourne MP Nick Boles was also supporting the Small Business Saturday campaign. He spent Saturday in Stamford speaking to retailers.

He said: “Traders were all very keen to support the policy and though it would make a big difference.”

The scheme was originally launched in the US in 2010 by American Express.
