Two businesswomen have joined forces to launch new monthly shopping events in Stamford and Oakham.
Vicki Taylor and Isobel Pearce set up Rutland Events Company this summer after coming up with the idea of hosting their own indoor markets in the two towns.
Their aim is to provide a range of high quality stalls for shoppers to browse and a cosy and welcoming atmosphere for the stallholders.
The first Oakham Quality Market takes place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday at Victoria Hall in High Street. It will be officially opened by Oakham mayor Adam Lowe.
Vicki, who runs a home furnishings and gifts company from her home in Braunston, said: “As stallholders ourselves we understand what traders want and so decided to host our own market.
“We are aiming for each stall to be unique - there won’t be two of anything. There will be some really lovely items on sale and the whole market will have a nice atmosphere.
“It will also have the advantage of being undercover and we will pamper our stallholders to make sure they enjoy the experience too.”
Stallholders who have signed up include Silver Sparklez, which sells children’s clothes and jewellery, Artisan Woodworking, Cake That, Usbourne Books, Bombtastic cosmetics company, Felt Like Making It, Oddity Owl, Funkie Faces face painting, Kit soft furnishings and Floppy Chicken.
Isobel said: “We hope this will be a fresh event. All goods on offer will be locally produced or sourced so visitors can be assured they will be doing their bit to support local small businesses.”
The first Stamford Quality Market will take place at Stamford Arts Centre on Sunday, October 27 followed by events on November 17 and December 15. Oakham markets will take place on October 13 and December 1.
