A POST office has reopened today, eight months after it was closed down.
Elton post office in Middle Street was shut in April as Post Office Ltd looked at other ways of providing services to the village.
A consultation was launched on the issue but all the responses received were in favour of keeping the office in the village, so the company decided to reopen it with a new look.
Post Office Ltd spokesman Philippa Newey said: “The establishment of a post office local service presents the best possible solution to allow us to restore post office services in Elton.
“Customers will benefit from the following: a newly formatted open-plan counter that will offer a range of key post office products and services alongside retail transactions.
“Post office customers will benefit from the extensive opening hours including Saturday afternoon and Sunday opening. Roadside parking is available outside the premises.”
The next 12 months will be a trial period for the new office. Post Office Ltd said the success of the trial would rely on customers using the office on a regular basis.
The company will review the situation and any customer feedback over the coming months.
