A farmer is harvesting the sun and calling for good weather after turning to solar energy.

Rutland farmer and Chartered Environmentalist Andrew Brown has recently installed a 50KW solar panel array on the roof of one of his barns in Caldecott.

The panels, which were installed by Prescient Power of Ashby de la Zouch, from Leicestershire, were officially opened by Rutland MP Alan Duncan.

Mr Brown, who is the NFU
East Midlands regional chairman, said: “This is a way of reducing my carbon footprint whilst creating energy from the sun.

“I just hope we have a better summer than last year.”
