A French market made its successful return after two years away.

France at Home took over High Street and Ironmonger Street in Stamford on Saturday.

Visitors were treated to a wide range of Gallic products, from strong-smelling cheeses and garlic prawns to handmade scarves and hats.

Ali Hawley-Smith, who arranged for the market to come to Stamford, was delighted with the turnout.

She said: “It was busy from start to finish. Some traders had been to Stamford before and some were new but they were all pleased with the town.

“There was a lovely mixture of products. Everyone who I spoke to was delighted with the range.”

The market last came to Stamford in 2010 but Ali said she would try and make it an annual event.

She added: “I would love to have them back.”
