A £20,000 project to provide free wi-fi to visitors and residents in a town centre launched on Tuesday.
Business partnership Uppingham First, Rutland Telecom and The Falcon Hotel in High Street East, have teamed up for the project which will provide free internet access to people in the town centre and on The Beeches estate.
A mast has been put up in Glaston Road, Uppingham, to transmit to small aerials in both areas. Each aerial transmits to an area that covers about 500 metres in each direction.
Uppingham First secretery Ron Simpson of Hawthorn Drive, Uppingham, said: “We have had a lot of great feedback from people using the service.”
Rutland Telecom and The Falcon Hotel have agreed to finance the project as it is rolled out across the whole town and the surrounding villages.
