Lord Paddy Ashdown to give talk at Uppingham School Memorial Hall

A well-known political figure is set to visit Uppingham to talk about his life and sign copies of his new book.

Lord Paddy Ashdown will be at Uppingham School Memorial Hall on Tuesday, March 12.

Lord Ashdown, will talk about his new publication, A Brilliant Little Operation, and his career, and answer questions from the audience.

The former MP and leader of the Lib Dems resigned from politics in 2001 after 19 years.

A year later he was appointed International High Representative for Bosnia and gave evidence at the trial of Slobodan Milosevic for war crimes.

Lord Ashdown’s latest book tells the first full account of how The Cockleshell Heroes mounted the greatest commando raid of the Second World War, on Bordeaux harbour in 1942. He served in the Special Boat Section of the Royal Marines which formed after the raid.
