Customers at an Indian restaurant are now able to eat more healthily thanks to a new low-calorie menu.
Akbars in Manor Way, Deeping St James, teamed up with independent Cambridge Weight Plan consultant to produce several new dishes.
The low-calorie alternatives were presented to customers at a taster night and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
Akbars owner Zaheer Abbas said: “We were thinking of doing something a bit different for our customers. People on these kind of diets don’t really have many options.
“We started with a small menu but people still have several options to choose from.
“We cut out quite a lot of the oil, ghee and yoghurt. The test sessions went quite well and people really enjoyed it.”
The menu is now available to all customers and the restaurant may introduce more low-calorie dishes.
