A COMMUNITY shop is enjoying a surge in new customers after a Mercury appeal.

Last month we featured a request from the volunteer committee which runs the Collyweston Community Shop, in High Street, as it appealed for new helpers.

Within a few weeks the shop has seen custom increase and volunteers turn up to lend a hand behind the counter.

Committee member Paul Johnson said: “Locals from the village and nearby Easton and Duddington have turned out to see the surprisingly wide range of local food, groceries and household items on sale at this friendly little shop.

“The shop is run by a management committee who are delighted with the recent surge in interest from villagers and they are constantly looking for ways to improve the service and product range.”
