Morrisons refuses to reveal whether it has bought Stamford Blockbuster store
Supermarket giant Morrisons is buying 49 stores from film rental firm Blockbuster but has not revealed the locations.
The supermarket, which already has a store in Uffington Road, Stamford, will convert the stores into Morrisons M local shops.
Last week Deloitte, the administrator for Blockbuster, said 164 stores would close, including the Stamford branch in Ironmonger Street.
The 49 stores bought by Morrisons are among these but both Morrisons and Deloitte refused to reveal the exact locations of those that had been bought.
Blockbuster went into administration in January when it announced that 168 stores would close and all employees would be made redundant.
Deloitte said the deal was expected to be the first of a number of group and individual sales that it would announce, as it worked through the inventory of Blockbuster stores recently earmarked for closure.
The Blockbuster branch in Burghley Centre, Bourne, has avoided closure so far.
