A pet shop held a puppy competition to help promote its new Facebook page.
Staff at Pet and Animal Country Store in Bourne wanted to do something to increase their social media following.
They decided to invite customers to have photos taken with their puppies in store. They then posted the pictures on the new Facebook page and asked followers to “like” their favourite puppy.
The pet with the most likes was then judged to be the winner.
More than 20 puppies were entered into the competition and the winner was 20-week-old Peanut and owner Karen Muir, who got about 55 likes and won a 15kg bag of premium food. In second was Gary Waterhouse and puppy Barney, 10 months, and third was five-month-old Rosie and owner Nicky Raymond.
Melissa Thorley, who organised the competition, said: “It went really well. We have got more than 100 likes on the Facebook page now. And from that, people have been liking other posts that weren’t related to the competition.”
