Limestone supplier, Stamford Stone Company has raised hundreds of pounds for local charity Anna’s Hope, which supports children and young people with brain tumours.

The company ran a special promotion, donating £1 for every square metre of its paving products bought during June and July.

With enough flooring sold to cover an area bigger than a football penalty area, the family business has been able to donate almost £800 to the charity.

Laura Green, a director of Stamford Stone Company, said: “We’re thrilled with the amount we’ve able to raise, and would like to thank our customers and employees for a great team effort in support of a wonderful local charity.”

Laura was inspired to support Anna’s Hope and has even done volunteering work for the charity after hearing a talk by its founder Carole Hughes, whose daughter Anna died of a brain tumour when aged only three.

Carole said: “We’re delighted and would like to say a huge thank you to Laura and all at Stamford Stone. Through their support, they have also helped to raise awareness of brain tumours, which are now the UK’s biggest cancer killer in children. Every penny will go to help children with brain tumours reach their full potential.”

The charity, based at Pilsgate near Stamford, works closely with the Brainbow service at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, the regional centre for brain tumours. Money raised helps to pay for rehabilitation and support for children and their families across the East of England. More information can be found on the website.
