THE road from Oakham to Braunston will be closed until Thursday while a burst water pipe is repaired.
The pipe has been leaking for a couple of weeks and Severn Trent, which supplies the town with water, estimates it will take until Thursday to fix.
Tankers have been moving water from Anglian Water’s Wing Treatment Works, which supplies Severn Trent, to Oakham to continue a supply until the work has been carried out.
A spokesman for Severn Trent said: “Customers may notice increased numbers of Severn Trent vehicles, especially large tankers, in the area during the course of this work. We are working around the clock on both the repair and our tankering operations to maintain storage in our reservoirs and manage our network to ensure we maintain water supplies to all customers.
“During the repair period and shortly after its completion, customers may notice some temporary discoloration of their water supply.
“The discoloration poses no risk to health and running your cold water tap for a short period of time will normally clear the supply.”
