RPC Containers in Oakham to create 35 new jobs

A PLASTICS firm has announced the creation of 35 new jobs.

RPC Containers in Schofield Road, oakham, has pulled out of its plans to move to a new site in Ashwell and has instead decided to invest in its current site.

It is spending £2m on converting one of its warehouses into a new manufacturing hall and hopes to have completed the work by the end of April.

RPC Containers general manager Philip Jones said: “We investigated the possibility of moving to the former Ashwell Prison site but decided that rather than invest in a new site we would invest money into the Oakham site. It was decided that the benefits of moving did not outweigh the risk. The feeling in the company is very positive.”

The company currently employs about 300 people in Oakham.
