A couple who found retirement too quiet have opened a new deli and wine bar promoting UK produce in Market Deeping.
Ros and Martyn Duke, from Market Deeping, ran the pet shop Pets Pantry for 11 years, but sold it to make way for what they thought would be a quiet retirement.
But the couple were missing their old customers so much they decided to open up a new business in the town.
On October 26 the doors to Rustic Deli and Wine Bar in High Street, Market Deeping were opened to the public.
Martyn said: “I’ve lived here since 1988 and I can honestly say that the people of Deeping are very special. We loved owning the pet shop and really were missing our customers.”
Ros added: “We wanted to give something back to Deeping so I came up with the idea of having a deli which would serve coffee during the day, and then wine in the evening. Apart from enjoying retail for more than 12 years, our family have a great love for good food and drink.
“This new experience I hope will be enjoyed by the local community, as we have been searching, sourcing, and learning more and more about the industry we love.”
The Deli has been decorated using recycled materials including old wooden doors and tables to create a comfortable place.
The business stocks local and UK-sourced ingredients, wines and other drinks to promote British produce.
Rustic is open Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 4pm, with extended hours until 11pm on Thursday, Friday and to Saturdays.
