Watchmaker Robert Loomes and Company is launching a batch of 18 carat rose-gold watches.
The firm in St Mary’s Hill, Stamford, has established a reputation for making entirely British wristwatches.
Robert said: “Working with gold is completely different.
“We use a firm in Derby to machine our stainless steel cases. We couldn’t outsource the gold cases though.
“Having made the decision to manufacture fifty of each – a Red Robin and a Red Robina means we have to bring ever more of the making back into our Stamford workshops.”
The Robin watch is hand-wound, mechanical watch. Viewed on the wrist, the stainless steel case and frosted rhodium dial appear classical and restrained. Only on turning it can you see the hand engraved and numbered mechanism.
