A wine retailer hopes to move into new premises and expand to offer a cafe service.

Stamford Wine Company has applied to convert the use of the former Simpole Clarke delicatessen in St Paul’s Street, Stamford.

The firm is currently based in St Mary’s Street but wants to move to the new location to cope with an increase in demand.

According to a statement on the Stamford Wine Company website, the new premises will continue to sell fine wines and spirits but will also feature a bar/cafe area.

Customers will be able to enjoy wines by the glass and a light food menu. All wines on the store shelves will be available to drink with a small corkage charge.

The new venue will also have Moretti beer on tap along with bottled ales from the region. And the firm hopes to make use of the garden in the summer.

According to the planning application no alterations would need to be made to the inside of the building. A separate licensing application has been submitted.
