A woman has thanked post office staff who helped customers send their mail while their usual branch was closed.
Oakham post office, in Market Place, was shut for four days earlier this month while an audit was carried out.
Many customers who needed to send Christmas cards and gifts had to use the post office in Cottesmore instead, putting huge strain on the small building.
Dr Jane Mackay, from Burley, runs a mail order business and sends out CD collections of lectures on famous writers.
She also has grandchildren in New Zealand and needed to send out Christmas presents before the final deadline.
She said: “They had two staff working and one was in the office while one came outside to weigh everyone’s parcels.
“They were both so cheerful and people made sure it was quite pleasant by chatting to each other in the queue.”
