A CHIP shop has been rewarded for its community efforts.

The Boundary in High Street, Market Deeping, won the Contribution to the Local Community Award at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2012 last week.

Also battling it out at the ceremony in London was fellow Market Deeping chippy Linford’s, which was nominated for the Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop Of The Year Award.

The Market Place shop won the Eastern regional section but ultimately came up short in the national final.

The Boundary was rewarded for its charity initiatives, which included an annual charity day for the Deepings Medical Practice and Anna’s Hope, a charity helping children with brain tumours.

Manager Blair Butler said: “We at the Boundary are very pleased to receive this award, especially as it is only given to one company in the whole of the UK.”

Assistant manager at Linford’s Chris Pithey took part in the shop’s presentation at the grand final.

He said: “Winning the regional award has been really good and giving the presentation was a good experience. We just need to get that extra step for next year.”
