An entrepreneur has come up with a new product to help people carry their shopping and cut down the need for plastic carrier bags.

Matt Wright is the man behind MyBuddy-Box, a strong, lightweight plastic box that quickly folds down into a portable size.

Matt, who runs his business from King Street Industrial Estate near Langtoft, came up with the idea as a way of reducing the need for plastic bags. Working with his father Paul he developed a foldable 800g box that, once opened, can carry more than 20kg.

Matt, from Deeping St James, said: “We saw there were bags available but no suitable boxes.

“Our original prototypes were made out of paper and we then moved on to plastic.”

The box also has other uses. Matt added: “We spawned it with supermarkets in mind but it really comes into its own for temporary storage.

“When you are finished with it the box folds down and can go in a drawer until the next time you use it.”

Matt estimates each of his boxes could save more than 3,000 single use carrier bags.He is currently trying to sell his idea to supermarkets but also has individual boxes for sale at £14.99 each at www.mybuddy-box.com.
