A businesswoman has uncovered more history of the building where she has set up a health and beauty salon.

Claire Saunders reopened Renu at the former Marquis of Granby premises in Bourne last month.

During the renovations she discovered some old writing on the walls and was keen to discover its origins.

The writing, dated December 10, 1961, was signed by organist Row Fowler and barman Ron Hunt.

Other writing named J Stubley in 1947.

Mrs Saunders was contacted by the sister of Ron Fowler who recalled him playing in a band called The Mortones. She has also discovered that the pub had a cafe for market traders and served passing lorry drivers.
