A woman was joined by soldiers and an airman as she sold cakes in aid of Help for Heroes.

Belinda Dade, a volunteer for the charity, was at Stamford Market on Friday selling cakes.

Three soldiers from St George’s Barracks in North Luffenham and an airman from RAF Wittering joined Belinda to help with the efforts and she also had cakes donated by students and staff at New College Stamford.

Belinda, who lives in Castor near Peterborough, said: “I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped or donated so generously and helped us raise a fantastic amount.”

The event raised £780 for the cause, which is close to Belinda’s heart as a friend’s son is currently serving in Afghanistan.
