A youth club has secured a slice of extra funding thanks to a supermarket.
The Stamford branch of the Salvation Army, which runs The Shack youth centre on the Recreation Ground, applied to be the charity of the year for Sainsbury’s in Ryhall Road.
The application was unsuccessful but staff at the store were so impressed with the centre they decided to make a donation of £200 along with some snacks and treats for the youngsters.
Salvation Army captain Ian Walford said: “We are really grateful to Sainsbury’s for that support. It will go a long way to helping us support young people.”
The Shack runs open sessions from 7pm until 10.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
