ABOUT 15 people enjoyed a champagne wedding breakfast at the Horse and Panniers pub in Church Street, North Luffenham, this morning to celebrate the royal wedding.
Among them were visitors from as far away as southern California in America.
Kat Grossman, 68, from San Bernardino, owns a cottage in the village. She said: “I’m really excited to be here.
“I think it’s all wonderful. It’s twice as exciting as just watching it at home on the television. The event has brought the village together.”
Partners in the pub Michelle Garrity and Trisha Clarke provided bucks fizz, croissants and brioche while customers watched the celebrations. Later today they will have games and live music.
A committee was set up in the village to organise the events.
Michelle said: “We have been planning it for about six weeks. We just thought one day that we had to do something to mark the occasion.
“We couldn’t let it pass without celebrating it.”
