THE sun was shining for Rutland Lions Club’s charity barbecue at the weekend.

More than £130 was raised at the event, which was held at Tesco in South Street, Oakham, on Saturday.

People bought a range of barbecue food, including burgers and hot dogs from the store’s Finest range, which was cooked by members of the club.

Head of fundraising Allan Grey said: “We were delighted with the weather and raised more than £130 which will help our ongoing fundraising.

“We would like to thank Tesco for allowing us to hold the barbecue and for sponsoring us, which gave us a very good discount on buying the food.”

The club has raised more than £17,000 in the past 18 months.
