THE High Sheriff of Rutland blessed the clothes that will be sold at a charity sale.

Peter Lawson visited the volunteers for the Rutland Macmillan Clothing Sale who were busy sorting all of the new and good-as-new men’s, women’s and children’s clothing.

The sale will take place on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel.

Peter said: “I was amazed by the scale of the operation, and by the busy enthusiasm of so many ladies happily working to make sure that this is the sale of the year.

“We all hope never to need the help of a Macmillan nurse ourselves, but we all know that if we do it will make an enormous difference to us.”

The event is open Friday, 5pm to 8.30pm, and Saturday, 8.30am to 1.30pm. Friday is ticket only and they are £15 each. Call Trish Ruddle on 01572 724400.

On Saturday entry is £5 on the door.
