An author gave a fascinating talk at Oakham Castle on the life and times of Queen Matilda.

Tracy Borman, from Scothern near Lincoln, also signed copies of her new book Matilda, Wife of the Conqueror, First Queen of England.

The talk was a fundraising event for WaterAid and more than £750 was raised for safe water and sanitation projects in Mali which the Rutland group for WaterAid supports.

Tracy spoke about how Matilda, wife of William the Conqueror, had a great penchant for self-promotion and was crowned the first Queen of England at a grand cermony in Westminster Abbey in 1068.

Our picture shows Ms Borman signing a copy of her book for Jan Baile,y from Duddington, who won the book in a raffle to raise funds for WaterAid.
